Caroline D’Cruz pianist, accompanist and musical director

Caroline D’Cruz – pianist, accompanist and musical director was one of the first intake of musicians at Chethams School of Music when it became a specialist music school in 1969. After 7 years there, she went to the Royal College of Music where she studied with David Parkhouse and Hubert Dawkes and started to specialise in accompaniment.

Since 1988 she has lived in North Dorset and been musical director of many productions at Shaftesbury Arts Centre, conductor of Sturminster Choral Society and, for over 17 years, the Musical Director of Milborne Port Opera, an award winning group specialising in the operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan but also putting on Operetta, musicals and Music Theatre. She also plays in a piano/clarinet/cello trio and regularly provides music for parties, weddings and other events.

Caroline has been the Company Manager of Dorset Opera since 2010 and was, for several years, the Chorus répétiteur. She has been the pianist for Absolutely Opera with whom she played on numerous cruises to places as far afield as Japan, Singapore, the Falkland Islands, the Arctic Circle and the Panama Canal. She regularly accompanies singers in the South West and London.

Caroline is available for coaching, playing at events such as weddings and parties, practical exams, theory tuition and lessons – you can see the videos she put up, mainly in lockdown, on YouTube.
